Clinical staff celebrate academic opportunities to improve health – event 10 March

Nurses, midwives, AHPS and other non-medical health staff interested in academic pathways are invited to attend the Clinical Academic Careers Showcase in Newmarket on 10 March.

The free event is being developed in partnership between HEE and Clinical Academic Careers East (CLACEast) and will both showcase the work of past and current clinical academics and provide inspiration for staff who are interested taking up clinical academic opportunities.

Keynote speakers:

  • Professor Ruth Endacott, NIHR Director of Nursing and Midwifery
  • Dr Hazel Roddam, Subject Matter Expert - AHP Research, Health Education England

Leading the way in Research Capacity Building - organisational perspectives:

  • Lee Tomlinson, Head of Research, Kent Community Health NHS FT and NIHR 70@70 Alumni
  • Amanda Small, Deputy Chief Nurse & Dr Helen Watson, Director of Allied Health Professionals, Cambridge University Hospitals
  • Rene Gray, Professional Lead for Physiotherapy, James Paget University Hospital NHS FT

Clinical Academics (CAs) are clinically active health researchers, undertaking academic roles whilst also providing clinical expertise within health and social care settings.

They provide clinical and research leadership in the pursuit of innovation and delivery of excellent evidence-based healthcare.

The event will include both organisational and clinical academic perspectives, presentations from HEE interns and fellows as well as a Q&A on opportunities to engage with the programme through the HEE Internship and Bridging Awards.
