Developing the sleep science healthcare science workforce

Expression of interest (EOI) for funding support – Healthcare science sleep science apprenticeships

To help grow and transform the healthcare science sleep science workforce, HEE is offering a limited number of training support grants to NHS trusts of £10,000 (per apprentice) for the following apprenticeship programmes if started in 2022/23:

• Healthcare Science Sleep Science Apprenticeship - level 2 Diploma in Healthcare Science
• Healthcare Science Sleep Science Apprenticeship - level 4 Diploma in Healthcare Science

This support is available as a pro-rata payment in the current financial year (2022/23) and carried over to 2023/24. The grant should be used by employers (in addition to the apprenticeship levy) to support and facilitate their trainees completing one of the recognised apprenticeship training programmes listed above. The training grant is to support trainees commencing the programme within this current financial year and this HEE funding must be expended in the financial year 2022/23.

You can complete the EOI using the Healthcare Science Sleep Science Apprenticeship EOI Survey by Friday 19 August (17:00). 

Please note: The data being gathered via this survey will be used to assess the level of demand for apprenticeships that will be used to develop the sleep science workforce. Demand data will be collated and shared with the regional HEE Cancer Workforce Lead. 

Neither you (the employer), nor HEE, are committing to anything at this point in time. Employers are advised to wait for confirmation from HEE as to which training posts will be awarded funding before enrolling candidates on programme.
