Now is the time to become a GP Foundation Doctor Clinical Supervisor

18 November 2022

The Foundation School is expanding

Following the expansion of the number of medical students in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester and the new Medical School in Lincoln, it is anticipated that there is going to be a large increase in Foundation Doctors in training. In addition, the Government has asked the Foundation school to increase capacity. We would like all of these doctors to train and experience care outside of the hospital setting.

The benefits to you

  • You will support doctors early in their professional career.

  • Early exposure to GP makes them more likely to choose GP as a career.

  • You will develop their skills and watch them grow.

  • You don’t need to be an educational supervisor to have Foundation doctors.

  • Full GP trainer’s grant of £8,842 per annum pro rata for each F2.

Things to consider if you want to become a Foundation Clinical Supervisor:

  • Are you already in an existing GP or foundation training practice? This will help us assess the amount of preparation that you will need to undertake.

  • Have you been in your current practice for a minimum of six months?

  • Ensure you have the full support of the wider practice to become a F2 Clinical Supervisor.
