Recent activities from our School of Primary Care

The South West School of Primary Care (SoPC) hosted its first International Medical Graduate (IMG) Induction this month, in addition to the Annual Educator Conference.

At the IMG induction, the SoPC welcomed 84 attendees to introduce the 2023 cohort of general practice (GP) doctors in training. For these aspiring medical professionals, the induction was a fundamental first step into their practice in the South West, setting the stage for their journey ahead.

"I had the opportunity to network and finally meet people facing the same challenges as me. It was an amazing induction day full of useful information." one trainee stated.

In addition to the induction, the SoPC welcomed more than 80 clinical educators from across the region at the two-day Annual Educator Conference. This conference provided the opportunity to deliver essential updates and continual professional development resources to the audience. Along with sharing vital information, the conference provided a space to come together and share best practices.

“I came away having learned some new things and feeling inspired and refreshed. The content was great and plenty of time to network with new colleagues,” an attendee commented.

The successes of these events are recognised by the collective efforts of the GP educator community and guest speakers.
