Simulated Mental Health Placement for paramedic students

21 April 2023

In response to the current shortfall of mental health practical placements and under-confidence in managing mental health patients reported by newly qualified paramedics, the Simulated Mental Health Placement, funded by WT&E and supported by our mental health programme team, will aim to examine whether a simulated placement could bridge the gap.

During April 2023, themes for practical scenarios that were developed with regional paramedic students, university faculties, and South Western Ambulance Service Foundation Trust (SWASFT) practice placement co-ordinators, will be incorporated into a set of scenarios by Maudsley Learning (Maudsley NHS Trust, London) and will form the foundation of a simulated experience.

The objectives will be to improve paramedic confidence and to reduce the unwarranted variation in patient care. Contact us for further information.
