South West Health and Social Care Widening Participation Networking meeting

After three years, we held the first face-to-face south west health and social care widening participation networking meeting in Taunton this month.

The meeting brought together stakeholders from education and the health and care sector to provide information and support for widening participation activity to help engage and inspire our future workforce. Over 50 colleagues attended the meeting across the health and education sector in primary care and the third sector.

Delegates enjoyed presentations from a wide range of speakers who addressed some of the barriers to widening participation activity and identifying some possible solutions including:

• Skills for Care - Putting People at the Heart of Care
• Career Matters – Live Experience Charter
• Selina Saveker – Careers in Learning Disabilities and Mental Health 
• Association of Colleges - Mental Health Report
• University of Plymouth - Long-armed supervision.
