Health Education England Chief Executive Professor Ian Cumming delivered a key note speech at the NHS Confederation conference in Liverpool, looking at the need to be flexible and innovative in developing the NHS for today and tomorrow.

The figures released by NHS Digital show a trend in General Practice that is being replicated across the workforce not just in the NHS. We are working with colleagues across the system to build a workforce that delivers what patients need whilst recognising the changes in modern working patterns impacting on all industries. In Primary Care this includes recruiting more GP trainees and increasing other parts of the Primary Care workforce such as paramedics, community pharmacists, physician associates and nurses.
