Learning disability nursing
The CapitalNurse learning disability nursing workforce project was set up to address some of the real challenges faced in learning disability nursing.
Learning disability nurses are trained in a specialist field of practice to support people with a learning disability to maintain positive physical and mental health and live fulfilling lives.
The CapitalNurse growing the learning disability nursing workforce: A pan-London best practice resource for employers, was developed in collaboration with stakeholders to support health and social care organisations, to address some of the workforce challenges faced in learning disability nursing. By embracing a pan London approach, the guide serves as a roadmap to support employers in their efforts to promote learning disability nursing as a vital and fulfilling career. It outlines initiatives and resources to inspire and attract people to the profession, demonstrates practical ways managers can support the development and career progression of learning disability nurses, as well as showcasing some of the outstanding work being delivered across London.
The pan-London guide (PDF only, 771KB) incorporates and builds on some of the existing CapitalNurse and NHS England programmes of work and can be applied and adapted to meet an organisation's needs.
