Stage 1 Roadmap verification process

Portfolio of evidence

  • As a practitioner who is working in primary care seeing undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations it is key to ensure patient and practitioner safety.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of triangulated evidence against agreed capabilities is a robust method of evidencing capability. The development of a portfolio of evidence is the responsibility of the practitioner but they should also engage the support of a supervisor.
  • Increasingly, taught routes for individuals working in FCP roles who require evidence of completions are emerging. These courses have mapped the learning outcomes of the FCP Roadmaps the taught route. These routes should include Stage 2 which is also mapped to the FCP Roadmap.
  • Taught routes can be more appropriate for practitioners and will likely become the standard.

Stage one

  • The evidence for Stage 1 should demonstrate capability against the knowledge, skills and attributes (KSA) in the profession specific Roadmap.  Stage 1 needs to demonstrate (academic) level 7 knowledge, complex clinical reasoning, and critical thinking.
  • Stage 1 needs to demonstrate level 7 knowledge, complex clinical reasoning, and critical thinking.
  • Level 7 credits can be mapped across and any learning outcomes from the modules will help this process.
  • If a practitioner does not have any level 7 credits, it is likely a practitioner will require 5 pieces of reflection to show currency of their KSA in daily practice.

  • See below a video explaining how to evidence level 7 KSA.  Examples of reflective can be found in the resources linked on this page.
  • Below there are 2 videos that explain what masters level 7 learning is and how to evidence level 7 KSA.
