HEE continues to be responsible for funding clinical placements, based on the tariff set by the Department of Health for Social Care (DHSC). This will be at a level commensurate with the minimum numbers of registered professionals needed by the NHS.
When HEE was established in 2013, an interim transitional tariff was introduced by the Department for Health and Social Care to work alongside local arrangements for areas that are outside the scope of the transitional tariffs.
The introduction of the tariffs also brought along the Education and Training Cost Collections to assess what the cost of providing education and training placements was for a provider.
The Department of Health & Social Care and Health Education England are working together to make sure the Education & Training Tariffs continue to support good quality training placements.
