Designated Prescribing Practitioner novel intervention case studies
The Pharmacy Integration Programme has been working with local, regional, and national stakeholders to identify how systems can identify, upskill, and match designated prescribing practitioners with pharmacists who want to become independent prescribers. This resource holds a collection of case studies identified from across the country and various sectors of pharmacy.
These case studies highlight existing approaches to increase DPP capacity at a local or regional level, rather than a national process or offer.
Our ambition is to capture innovative and transferable work as case studies, so that they can be shared freely, and act as a catalyst to connect like-minded people to design, develop and implement change locally and evaluate impact.
Local initiatives
We are sharing case studies that are local initiatives that may have utilised local funding to pump prime their projects.
All case studies are unique and vary in levels of maturity and focus. To ensure transferable and relevant information is being shared, each case study must meet one or more of the following aims:
- Empower systems to develop a sustainable approach to improving prescribing supervision access and capacity
- Explore how to address barriers to supervision for prescribing training
- Foster a reciprocal approach for supporting prescribing supervision needs between sectors and profession.
