Launch of AHP self-assessment tools for organisations and systems
22 February 2024
The NHS England AHP Preceptorship Standards and Framework was launched in November last year and now following on from that self-assessment tools for organisations and systems have been made available. The “AHP Preceptorship Organisational Self-Assessment Tool” and the “AHP Preceptorship System Self-Assessment Tool” are aimed at supporting the review, evaluation and continuous development of AHP Preceptorship at the organisation and system levels. Their development supports the publication of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Principles for Preceptorship and NHS England’s AHP Preceptorship Standards and Framework.
The tools aim to standardise AHP Preceptorship delivery across England through the implementation of a consistent set of preceptorship standards and best practice requirements as outlined in the AHP Preceptorship Implementation Framework.
They will enable organisations and systems to utilise a progression model in the form of a maturity matrix to evaluate organisational or system level progress with AHP Preceptorship by:
- evaluating their current preceptorship offer for AHPs against the NHS England AHP Preceptorship Standards and Framework
- performing a gap analysis
- linking evidence of achievement
- highlight and prioritise the opportunities for improvement
There is an excel workbook and instructions for completion for both self-assessment tools and webinars and Q&A sessions will be held to support the implementation of the tools.
