East of England

Health Education England (HEE) exists for one reason only: to support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England. Working across the east of England, we ensure that the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.

In the east of England, we have a strong commitment to working collaboratively with NHS England and Improvement, Public Health England, Social Care Partners and Education Providers. We support systems to develop the workforce we need to deliver excellent compassionate care, with a drive to making the NHS in the east of England a great place to train and work. We are committed to ensuring equality diversity and inclusion in our staff and the wider workforce so that we reflect the diverse community we serve.

We deliver our aim by focusing on the delivery of education and training, quality, workforce planning and transformation.

We have a diverse population of 6.4 million people. We are a region as big as Scotland, covering from Suffolk and Essex to Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, and to Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. Educationally, the region contains 8 universities* as well as upwards of 20 NHS providers who encourage a strong learning culture.

We pride ourselves on working to our values, which align to the NHS Constitution which sets out rights to which patients, public and staff are entitled, and pledges which the NHS is committed to achieve, and which the public, patients and staff owe to one another to ensure that the NHS operates fairly and effectively.
