Diversity and inclusion

We seek to embrace a workforce that is sensitive to the diversity of the communities that we serve.

We know that a diverse and inclusive workforce can help us to develop new ways of thinking leading to improvement and innovation in the way we work. For us, it is vital that all colleagues, and the learners we support, are treated fairly and are enabled to reach their full potential. 

We are working to ensure that the themes of diversity and inclusion are progressed across the whole of HEE in all that we do. We recognise the need to advance equality and are committed to developing as an organisation in which all our colleagues feel valued, respected and able to be themselves in the workplace. 

We also recognise the system leadership role we can play in advancing diversity and inclusion for the benefit of the whole NHS workforce. HEE is a member of the NHS Equality and Diversity Council (EDC), which works to bring people and organisations together to realise a vision for a personal, fair and diverse health and care system, where everyone counts, and the values of the NHS Constitution are brought to life.
