Are you redistributing all trainee posts across England?

The remit of the workstream is to only consider specialty training posts that have HEE funding (tariff) attached to them. All specialties will be redistributed across England over the lifetime of the programme (2022-2032).

For the first phase, three specialties were explored as a pilot, these were:

• Haematology
• Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Cardiology

We recognise that other posts such as Academic or Trust Funded training posts are outside the scope of this workstream and they have been excluded from the modelling. This does mean that the number of posts considered within the modelling are only a fraction of all posts available across England.

We acknowledge that the model is not representative of the full training medical workforce but the programme focuses purely on the posts that HEE has full financial control of.
