What’s wrong with the current way?

Postgraduate medical training posts has been distributed across England based on historical arrangements. This means that training posts are not always aligned with patient need and as key members of the frontline medical workforce delivering care to patients, it can mean the level of some services does not meet local population requirements.  In some cases, the landscape and population needs have changed over time, and this programme is aiming to distribute medical training posts equitably based on patient needs today, and how it is predicted to look in the future.
