Learning Disabilities Made Clear

The Learning Disabilities Made Clear toolkit brings together a range of resources to promote understanding about what it’s like to live with a learning disability, allowing healthcare professionals to provide person centred care by adjusting the care they deliver and helping people with a learning disability accesses the services they need.

Leadership within learning disability services is imperative to transforming the way care is delivered, shifting the balance of power to individuals with a learning disability, their families and carers. Discover the leadership training options open to you and take a look at how inspiring leaders from across the system are already transforming care in our short #InspiringLeadersInLD films.

Autism can have a profound effect on individuals and families, but knowledge and understanding can make a huge difference in enabling us to support individuals to access and receive the best possible care and treatment from services. We've created a comprehensive list of autism resources that aim to increase awareness and understanding of autism to enable frontline staff to better recognise and respond more effectively to the needs of adults with autism.

Through our learning disability programme, we aim ensure that the learning disabilities workforce has the education, skills, values, knowledge and behaviours they need to effectively deliver and improve services, both now and in the future.  Working with Skills for Health and Skills for Care we’re providing support and guidance to the transforming care partnerships - enabling the development and implementation of sustainable workforce plans to deliver new models of care.
