Early intervention in psychosis workforce training
Health Education England is currently managing the national procurement process for training in Family Interventions and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for psychosis.
Approved providers will be placed on a Framework Agreement, which will be listed on this site, and Trusts will be able to select their preferred training provider from the framework from 1 January 2016.
HEE is also considering regional or national procurement for training in:
- Medication and prescribing
- IPS, education training and employment awareness
- Physical health in mental health
- Training for carers
- Cultural awareness training
- Assessment skill training, including At Risk Mental State (ARMS) training
Trusts’ role in arranging training
Trusts should diarise training as a priority for early 2016. EIP teams should complete their necessary training before 1 April 2016.
Trusts will be responsible for selecting a training provider from the Framework Agreement provided by HEE. The framework will be available on this site from 1 January 2016. Trusts will need to liaise directly with their chosen training provider regarding their local training dates, location and numbers.
HEE recommends trusts allocate a training coordinator to liaise with their selected training provider and make the necessary internal arrangements needed for EIP staff to attend training in early 2016.
If your chosen FI training provider does not offer supervision, or offers less than a year’s supervision, HEE will support your trust to provide in-house supervision for up to a year by paying for backfill for the supervisor(s). Backfill for FI training will only be provided for staff who have completed the training in the 2015/16 financial year.
For CBTp training, trusts should also establish their backfill costs for staff on the 2-year part-time PGDip pathway.
Once training places have been taken up, trusts need to submit one invoice for staff backfill before 13 April 2016.
Further information on backfill cost can be downloaded from this page.
