Facilitators wanted for Workforce Planning Masterclass

24 November 2022

The next cohorts for the Workforce Planning Masterclass are scheduled to begin in March 2023. We are looking for two would-be facilitators to join us and learn about the course and its delivery, with the aim of helping us to deliver future cohorts across the region.

HEE London originally developed a Workforce Planning Masterclass to support systems in working through a live workforce project and we have contextualised this for the Midlands in cohorts currently underway.

The programme is an 19-week course covering the six-step model, with induction in week one and then each step taking three weeks:

  • One of self-learning.
  • One where HEE facilitate a 2-hour workshop covering the course materials.
  • One where HEE offers an hour of support and reflection on that learning in the following week.

Please see the attached flyer in the related documents section for more details.

We currently have facilitators identified to run our next cohorts, but as we are expecting ongoing demand for this offer, we are building a pool of facilitators to be able to successfully support the programme for the Midlands in the future. To this end, you will join our existing facilitators to understand the course and its delivery from March 2023 as we start our next cohorts. In fact, two of the facilitators on the next cohorts will have just completed a similar shadowing exercise with our previous cohorts!

You will not be on your own! Our current model entails two facilitators per cohort with a support team including relevant clinical expertise throughout the course.

The time commitment will be about three hours actual face to face with the learners per step, so 18 hours in total. With learning the course materials and preparing for the role we expect the time commitment to average around 3-4 hours per week over the 18-week period.

There is no formal secondment arrangement attached to this offer. It is just an opportunity to improve your facilitation skills and gain a detailed knowledge of workforce planning whilst assisting HEE to deliver one of its key deliverables in supporting the region in building workforce planning capacity and capability.

In London, the skilled facilitation role is performed by senior staff (8b+), though we would encourage you to express your interest if you feel you have relevant facilitation skills.

This is an exciting opportunity to help roll out an innovative learning experience aiming to solve real world projects using a tried and tested workforce planning methodology. You will be supported to understand the course and context as part of the course support group along with workforce planning experts and other facilitators.

If you are interested in this opportunity, could you please complete the Expression of Interest form contained in the related documents section below, after discussing the matter with your line manager, to Masterclass.mids@hee.nhs.uk by Wednesday 21 December 2022.
