Health Education England working with NHS services across north west London
Whilst the benefits of apprenticeships have been felt up and down the country in different industries, the public sector has been a lot slower to consider apprentices, and this is especially true in the NHS. In geographical terms, London has taken on fewer apprentices per capita than anywhere else in the country.
It is within these challenges that we at Health Education England find ourselves. Whilst the mandated target for apprentices was met last year the trajectory needed to meet the expenditure of the forthcoming apprenticeship levy funds through apprenticeships is steep and fast.
We aim to assist all NHS services in north west London by interpreting and disseminating government policy on apprenticeships; by raising awareness so that services understand apprenticeships and their implications; by supporting services in developing their apprenticeship strategy; by supporting services in implementing apprenticeships through starting apprentices or even delivering apprenticeship programmes themselves and by improving performance through sharing good practice with the services and using that good practice to influence government policy making in the future.
